"Andhra Pradesh Cabinet Approves ₹22,302 Crore New Investments in Energy Sector"

The Andhra Pradesh Cabinet, led by Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, has given its nod to fresh investment proposals totaling ₹22,302 crore in green energy projects sanctioned by the State Investment Promotion Board (SIPB). The approved projects also include a proposal to provide a bank guarantee for loans amounting to ₹1,500 crore for power distribution companies (Discoms) in the state.

During the Amaravati Cabinet meeting, it was announced that the Geneva-based educational organization, IB, would be brought in as a partner to train teachers in government schools and staff of the education department. This training will specifically focus on handling the IB syllabus, set to be introduced from the academic year 2025-26.

Other key decisions taken by the Cabinet include an increase in the retirement age of non-teaching staff in universities and higher educational institutions to 62, the filling of 27 vacancies in the Legislature secretariat, and the appointment of Secretaries for all 13,171 Village Panchayats with a population of more than 500 people.

The Cabinet also greenlit the implementation of the welfare calendar for February, releasing ₹5,060.04 crore towards the fourth tranche of the YSR Cheyutha scheme, benefiting 26,98,931 SC, ST, BC, and minority women aged 45 to 60 years. Additionally, the Cabinet approved a proposal to exempt 5,376 families displaced due to the Pulichintala Project from paying registration and user charges of ₹60 crore on the allotment of house sites under the Navaratnalu-Pedalandariki Illu initiative.

The state government's decision to conduct a three-day Budget session of the Assembly from February 5, 2024, is on the horizon, with the vote-on-account budget expected to be tabled on the first day of the session. The Cabinet also decided to establish the AP Legislature Institute of Legislative Study and Training to provide training to newly elected legislature members and allotted house sites to prominent individuals in the sports arena.
