AM/NS India to Commission Hot Strip Mill, Strengthen Construction Equipment Supply: Ranjan Dhar.
ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India (AM/NS India), a joint venture between ArcelorMittal and Nippon Steel, is on track to commission its hot strip mill in 2025 as part of its ₹60,000 crore expansion plans at Hazira, Gujarat. The new facility will enable the company to strengthen its presence in the niche yellow goods segment, catering to construction equipment original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).
The expansion will see capacities at Hazira ramp up from the current 9 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) to 15 MTPA.
Ranjan Dhar, Director at AM/NS India, highlighted that the company has already established itself as a key supplier to major OEMs, including Tata Hitachi, JCB India, Caterpillar (CAT), Komatsu India, and Volvo. He added that several construction equipment OEMs are setting up export-oriented units, further boosting demand for high-quality steel products.
The commissioning of the hot strip mill is expected to enhance AM/NS India's ability to support growing infrastructure and construction activities in India and abroad.
