"Amazon India Teams Up with Gentari to Expand EV Delivery Fleet to 10,000 by 2025"

Gentari Green Mobility India (Gentari) has formed a strategic alliance with Amazon India to enhance the e-commerce giant’s electric vehicle (EV) fleet for last-mile deliveries. This partnership is set to significantly boost Amazon’s fleet, with a goal of expanding to 10,000 EVs by 2025.

The collaboration, announced on Monday, will enable Amazon to provide its delivery service partners (DSPs) with access to more three-wheeler EVs, supporting the company’s ambitious EV adoption plans across over 400 cities in India. Last year, Amazon deployed over 7,200 EVs and is now focusing on scaling this number to 10,000 within the next three years.

Under the agreement, Gentari will procure and deploy EVs in key Indian cities and offer comprehensive fleet management services to ensure smooth operation and maintenance. This initiative is designed to enhance the reliability of Amazon’s delivery services.

Nikhil Thomas, CEO of Gentari Green Mobility India, praised the partnership as a demonstration of Gentari’s commitment to cutting-edge EV technology and operational excellence. Gentari’s offerings include vehicle leasing and charging infrastructure.

Abhinav Singh, VP of Operations at Amazon India, emphasized that the partnership will bolster Amazon’s e-mobility efforts by equipping delivery service partners with top-notch electric vehicles and comprehensive vehicle life cycle management services, including charging and parking facilities.

Amazon’s EV fleet program is aimed at optimizing last-mile deliveries, featuring vehicles that can travel up to 50 km/h and cover over 100 km on a single charge. These EVs also come with technology that provides real-time performance data, enhancing operational efficiency.

The program supports aspiring entrepreneurs in building last-mile delivery businesses with the necessary infrastructure, technology, and fleet management services. This approach helps foster small businesses and expand Amazon’s delivery capabilities across India.

Navjit Gill, Country Head at Gentari India, highlighted that the partnership aligns with India’s growing emphasis on e-mobility solutions. Government initiatives such as the Electric Mobility Promotion scheme are creating a supportive environment for EV adoption, further enabling collaborations like the one between Amazon and Gentari.
