Amazon India recently announced plans to invest over ₹2,800 crore to enhance safety, health, and financial well-being initiatives for its associates, while also expanding its operations network across the country.
The investment forms part of the company’s broader commitment to invest more than $35 billion in India by 2030. The move comes as the e-commerce major accelerates the growth of its core online retail and quick commerce businesses, with plans to more than double the footprint of its Amazon Now service in existing cities and expand into new markets.
Abhinav Singh, Vice President of Operations for Amazon India and Australia, said the company is prioritising workforce welfare alongside operational expansion. He noted that the ₹2,800 crore (approximately $300 million) investment will support improvements in associate safety, health, and financial security, while also advancing technology to enable faster, safer, and more reliable deliveries.
Amazon India said its associate-focused initiatives are aligned with national programmes such as Ayushman Bharat and Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana, aimed at improving access to healthcare and financial services.
As part of its 2026 plans, the company will expand Project Ashray to provide accessible rest facilities for delivery associates, and scale health programmes like Sushruta, including preventive care through medical camps nationwide. It also plans to enhance medical and accident insurance coverage and extend financial inclusion through the Samriddhi programme, enabling enrolment in schemes such as Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana.
Additionally, under the Pratidhi programme, the company will increase support for the children of associates through scholarships and mentorship initiatives, further strengthening its workforce support ecosystem.
