ADB to pump $400-mn in Afghan's road projects

Kabul: The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has promised $ 400 million to help with Afghanistan’s road construction projects.

According to a contract signed between the ministry of public works and the ADB, the money will be used to help build 2900 km of ring roads and regional roads in Afghanistan.

Along with the ring roads, the Faiz Abad-Ashkashim road, the second part of Kabul-Jalalabad road and the Jabalul Saraj-Sorobi road will also be built.
The ministry has said that even more money is needed to implement the project.

Head of the policy department of the ministry of public works, Muhammad Salim Bedia, said: “Most of our projects are funded by the ADB, and the ministry considering the fact that roads have a fundamental role in the country’s economic growth, has vast plans in this part.”

A previous ADB project, the Puli Khomri-Mazari Sharif road, will be completed within a week.
