ADB to lend Rs 9 bn for north eastern road projects

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) is expected to lend over Rs 900 crore to upgrade around 433 km of roads in the North Eastern states.


The centre has planned to improve key road network in the region at an estimated cost of Rs 1,353 crore out of which Rs 908 crore will be provided by the ADB.


The scheme will cover 137.6 kms of road in Assam, 93.2 kms of road in Manipur, 93.4 km in Meghalaya, 55 km in Mizoram, 34.2 km in Sikkim and 20.3 kms of road in Tripura.


The government has already decided to bring all the state capitals in the region under railway and air network.
