33 uplift projects completed in Nangarhar province
Jalalabad: Thirty-three rural rehabilitation and development projects were completed in Nangarhar province, officials said.
Ahmad Wali Hakami Director of Rural Rehabilitation and Development Department of the province said the projects included cleaning water canals, construction of a number of local roads, water reservoirs, two embankments and 26 tailor training courses.
All these projects were conducted in Khiwa district during past six months, Hakimi said, 7,000 families were benefited from the schemes. 12 million Afghanis fund for the schemes was provided from the development budget of the Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development (MRRD) as well as ten percent contribution from the local people.
Local residents have welcomed the projects.
Muhammad Maruf a resident of Kuhna-Deh village of the district said they got access to enough clean water now with a water reservoir project implemented in his area.
Head of the district development council, Malak Sadozai, said that 77 rehabilitation projects had been approved for Khiwa district, with 33 already accomplished.
The district development council is supervising all the rural rehabilitation projects implemented in the area.
