11Km road, school building opened in Nangarhar

Jalalabad: Local officials in Nangarhar province Monday inaugurated 11-kilometers road and a school building accomplished by local authorities as part of the rural development plan of the central government.

Rural Rehabilitation and Development Department director, Ahmad Wali Hakami, told Pajhwok Afghan News the road was paved in Dara-e-Noor district he praised the road linked Toran area to the district center in Dara-e-Noor Valley.

European Union provided $370,000 budget for the construction of the road, completed in six months, Hakimi informed.

Malim Abdul Malik a tribal elder of the valley said the road was now paved, but that should be also asphalted soon to avoid ruining again and be more comfortable for its users.

Security was good in the area and construction works could go well ahead, he encouraged.

On the same day, Elsewhere in Chaparhar district of the same province, a school building was inaugurated.

Iqbal Azizi, Education Department Director of the province, said the secondary school had eight classrooms and few others for administrative activities. The school building was erected by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) as part of its Local Governance and Capacity Development initiative.

Azizi added that the school could accommodate 500 students who studied under the tents in the past.
