Work on Multan airport expansion begins

Multan: The expansion work of Multan International Airport Phase I has been started. Project Manager B.G. Yuan Min said that after the completion of this phase even the jumbo jet 747 could land. She said that this project would complete within two years.

Telling about the details of the project, she said that in Phase I the runway, taxi way and apron is included whereas in Phase II, the construction of terminal building is included. The construction of Phase II would also be started within 6 months.

She further said that they have brought the latest machinery for the project from China and the labour would be hired locally. 'The length of the airport would be increased from 9000 feet to 11000 feet whereas the width would be increased from 100 feet to 150 feet', she added.
