Titagarh Wagons gets field shelter orders

Kolkata: Titagarh Wagons, a Kolkata-based engineering company, has received first batch of orders for 45 field shelters, to be supplied within a period of 12 and 18 months. The Defence Ministry has ordered for about 100 “field shelters,” meant to protect defence personnel from any nuclear, biological and chemical warfare.

A total of 100 such shelters have been ordered for the first time to two private companies last week. The other company to receive such order was an Indo-Japanese joint venture.

Mr Umesh Chowdhury, Managing Director, Titagarh Wagons, said based on the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) designed shelter, a prototype had cleared rigorous tests a couple of months ago. The worth of the order for the 45 shelters is Rs 32 crore.
