"LDA initiates next phase of the Green Corridor to provide commuters relief from Lucknow's traffic snarls."

The Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) recently began construction of the third phase of the Green Corridor between Pipraghat and Shaheed Path, a project aimed at easing traffic congestion between the Cantonment area and Ayodhya and Kanpur roads.

LDA Vice-Chairperson Prathamesh Kumar inspected the nearly 5-km stretch and directed officials to construct a 240-metre-long and 12-metre-wide railway overbridge at the Pipraghat railway crossing, subject to obtaining a no-objection certificate from the Cantonment Board. He also instructed that Dilkusha Road, currently 9 metres wide, be widened to handle the anticipated increase in traffic once the corridor becomes operational.

As part of the project, a four-lane bridge will be constructed between Pipraghat and G-20 Road. An agency has been selected through the tender process, and construction is expected to commence within a week, officials said.

Landfilling work is currently underway along a 2.8-km stretch from Pipraghat to the Army land drain and a 2.5-km stretch up to Shaheed Path. Kumar stressed that all landfilling should be completed before the onset of the monsoon, followed by stone pitching to ensure embankment stability.

The vice-chairperson also reviewed the alignment of the Green Corridor between Ekana Cricket Stadium and Kisan Path. Farmers affected by land acquisition will be allotted land free of cost in Wellness City under the LDA’s land pooling policy, officials added.
