State Budget: Rs 300 Crore likely to be Allocated for 3 New Hospitals in Hyderabad.

The medical and health department will provide Rs. 300 crore in the 2016-17 State Budget for the three new hospitals in Hyderabad conceived by CM K Chandrasekhar Rao.

In addition to Osmania, Gandhi and NIMS hospitals, the CM proposed construction of three more hospitals to compete with corporate private hospitals in three different locations in the city. These hospitals will come up at LB Nagar, Chandrayanagutta and Kukatpally.

“Each hospital will require 5 acres of land and Rs. 100 crore investment. A provision will be made in the next budget for these hospitals,” sources in the health department said.

Health minister C Laxma Reddy has visited LB Nagar recently and inspected a 5-acre land for the construction. He proposed setting up a medical college along with the hospital in LB Nagar.

“If the CM agrees to this proposal, one of the proposed three hospitals will be a teaching hospital,” the sources said.

The idea to construct new hospitals is to cater to the needs of rural public who are taking a lot of pains to come to the hospitals like Gandhi and OGH located in heart of the city.

The proposed LB Nagar hospital on the Vijayawada highway will cater to the people of Rangareddy and Nalgonda districts.

The Chandrayangutta hospital on Mahbubnagar Road will cater to Mahbubnagar and Rangareddy.

The hospital proposed near Kukatpally will be useful to the people of Medak and Rangareddy districts, the sources said.

All the three hospitals will have emergency, general and ICU services and each hospital will have 500 beds.

The Bibinagar NIMS hospital will start an outpatient wing from Feb 28. The government has already constructed a building at a cost of Rs 80 crore. The government is also proposing to start a 300-bed hospital at Bibinagar soon.

“If Centre makes budgetary provisions for the proposed AIIMS, then the government will either hand over Bibinagar NIMS to AIIMS or provide other land nearby. If the Centre makes allocation for AIIMS, the CM will take a final call on its location,” sources said.
