Mamata Banerjee to Inaugurate Infosys' New Kolkata Campus on Wednesday

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will inaugurate the new campus of Infosys in Kolkata recently. The campus, located in the New Town area, spans 17.5 acres, with plans for gradual expansion over time, according to government sources.

Infosys has secured approximately 50 acres of land at the New Town site, with senior company officials expected to attend the inauguration ceremony. The company's decision to establish the campus in Kolkata aligns with its strategy to localize operations and tap into the city’s growing talent pool.

The company began recruitment efforts for the campus earlier this year, and has already hired around 2,000 employees. It is anticipated that the workforce will soon grow to 4,000 as operations expand.

Infosys’ move to set up a software development center in Kolkata is part of a broader effort to decentralize operations and create centers closer to regional talent, allowing employees more flexibility and reducing the need for travel to other cities.
