"Restoration work on the Kaleshwaram project barrages will be initiated soon, according to the Minister."

Telangana Minister for Irrigation N. Uttam Kumar Reddy recently said rehabilitation works on the Kaleshwaram Project barrages at Medigadda, Annaram and Sundialla would be taken up shortly in close coordination with technical institutions and design consultants.

At a review meeting with department officials, the minister directed that testing schedules of the Central Water and Power Research Station (CWPRS) be closely aligned with the work of project designers to ensure timely technical validation.

He said the synchronisation would enable phased design approvals by the National Dam Safety Authority (NDSA) under the Central Water Commission (CWC), allowing rehabilitation works to progress efficiently. A meeting with the NDSA expert committee would be held after February 16, he added, and officials were asked to prepare comprehensive technical proposals covering structural, hydraulic and remedial aspects.

The minister instructed engineers to expedite the finalisation of designs, obtain phased approvals and commence rehabilitation works without delay, while ensuring that safety and design integrity were not compromised.
