Maldives College violates construction norms
Male: Male’ Municipality has revealed that the construction work of Maldives College of Higher Education is being carried out in violation of normal regulations permitted by the Municipality. According to Director General of Male’ Municipality Abdul Hameed, Manchangolhi Ward office has been instructed not to allow any further violations and to inform the contractors that all necessary regulations of the Municipality must be followed.
“Cement bags, aggregate bags and river sand bags stacked there are strictly against our procedures, we do not permit these items to be stacked like that in any construction site, I also believe that Manchangolhi Ward office did not authorize it, huge projects are going on in Maldives but to block the public roads by stacking thousands and thousands tons of cement, aggregate or river sand is against regulations” said Hameed.
According to a Manchagolhi Ward official the contractors has been repeatedly advised to strictly follow the regulations. He also said necessary regulations concerning such work sites were informed accordingly.
Many complaints have been raised by the people living near the construction site.
Maldives College of Higher Education speaking on the issue said the work is being carried out by an Indian Company.
Male’ Municipality revealed that if violations continue they would be forced to halt the work.
