Work on Kunar Bridge in progress

Asadabad: Construction work on the third bridge over Kunar River that will connect the capital Asadabad with Mrorvi district started on Monday. The foundation stone of the bridge was laid by Kunar governor Syed Fazlullah Waheedi in Kirali area of Asadabad.

He told Pajhwok Afghan News the bride had 100 meters length and five meters width.

Waheedi said the project would cast 575 thoudand US dollars which would be provided from provincial budget and would be completed in less than a year.

Kunar people would have an easy access to Bajaur agency of Pakistan through the construction of this bridge, he added.

Abdul Ghani, Chief Engineer of the construction company told this news agency that the bridge would be able have a weight up to 45 tons. He asked the residents to help in maintaining security in the area during the construction work.

The residents of the area have welcomed the construction of the bridge and have said that it will be a great achievement in the area.
