Sentini group sets up ethanol unit in AP

Hyderabad: The Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, Dr Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, inaugurated a grain-based ethanol unit at Gandepalli village in Krishna district.

Promoted by the Rs 450-crore Sentini Group based out of Hyderabad, the plant could produce 45,000 kl of ethanol and industrial alcohol from corn. The group invested Rs 130 crore on the plant.

The company tied up with Cemcorp Ltd of Canada and their Indian partner K.B.K. Chem-Engineering Private Ltd of Pune. It also took assistance of the US-based Corn Plus that had experience in operating corn-based ethanol and alcohol plants.

“The plant has been located at a place surrounded by corn-growing areas in Krishna and the neighbouring districts. This assures ample supplies of corn, jowar and other coarse millets. The plant can also consume brokens of other cereals as well,” Mr T Seshagiri Rao, Managing Director of the company, said here in a press release.
