NTPC Set to Seek Approval for Nuclear Project After Feasibility Study.

NTPC is set to submit its first feasibility study for a nuclear power project to the Department of Atomic Energy and seek approval to move ahead with the plan, sources said.

The clearance would enable the state-run power major to begin work on its first standalone nuclear project in India. The company is aiming to build at least 2 GW of nuclear power generation capacity by 2032 as part of its long-term clean energy strategy.

Sources said NTPC is also conducting feasibility studies for nuclear projects in two other states. In the latest development, the company has received approval from the Government of Bihar to carry out a feasibility study for a proposed nuclear project in Banka district of Bihar.
