Equinix Launches New Data Centre in Chennai.
US-based digital infrastructure company Equinix has launched its first data centre in Chennai, named CN1, marking a significant expansion of its footprint in India.
The facility was inaugurated on Friday by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin. Developed with an initial investment of $69 million, CN1 currently has a capacity of 800 cabinets. Equinix plans to scale this up to 4,250 cabinets over the next 3–4 years in four phases.
The Chennai data centre will offer the full suite of Equinix’s interconnection services, including Equinix Fabric, which enables enterprises to harness the power of hybrid multicloud environments. The new facility is expected to play a key role in supporting the region’s growing digital infrastructure needs.
