"CM Yogi Adityanath: The ₹36,000-crore Ganga Expressway will be finished by February 2026, drastically shortening travel times and boosting UP's economy."

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath recently said the 594-km-long Ganga Expressway will be completed by February 2026, describing it as a critical infrastructure project that will significantly enhance the state’s connectivity, logistics capacity and industrial growth.

Chairing a high-level review meeting of major infrastructure, irrigation, energy, education and industrial development projects, Adityanath directed officials to ensure time-bound execution and adherence to quality standards across all flagship schemes.

“The Ganga Expressway will provide historic strength to Uttar Pradesh’s connectivity and serve as a strong foundation for industrial, agricultural and logistics activities,” the chief minister said.

The expressway, which passes through 12 districts and is expected to directly benefit more than 500 villages, is undergoing quality testing based on global benchmarks such as the roughness index and riding comfort index. Officials informed the chief minister that wayside amenities, rest areas, road safety features, signage and access-controlled systems are being developed in line with high standards.

Reviewing the progress of the Noida International Airport at Jewar, Adityanath directed officials to fast-track land acquisition for Phase III of the project. He said the airport would emerge as a major driver of global connectivity, investment and employment generation in the state.

“With the operationalisation of Jewar Airport, Uttar Pradesh will open new possibilities as an air cargo hub. Preparations for its future phases must be completed on time,” he said.

Officials said the first phase of the airport will have the capacity to handle over one crore passengers annually, with cargo infrastructure expected to play a key role in strengthening the state’s export and logistics ecosystem.

The chief minister also instructed officials to expedite work on the multimodal logistics hub and multimodal transport hub in Greater Noida, and to maintain close coordination with central ministries for proposed railway stations and linkages. Strengthening logistics infrastructure, he said, would help reduce costs for industries and position Uttar Pradesh as a manufacturing and supply-chain hub.
