CDA to build new complex
Islamabad: Having spent over Rs 60 million on renovation of its offices, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) now plans to construct its own complex at a much higher cost by the end of this year.
CDA sources said the CDA would build its new complex at Mauve Area near Zero Point and give the old building to the Inter-Service Indigence (ISI). The CDA will hire a consultant in the next two months for the new complex, they said.
They said the contractor hired for renovating CDA existing building had not done its job properly due to lack of monitoring. “The renovated areas have developed cracks,†they said.
They said the CDA had sold two blocks to the ISI for Rs 140 million a couple of years ago. The two blocks and the adjacent area was one fourth of the total areas of the CDA headquarter, they added. They said the CDA had a lot of problems in accommodating offices of audit, account, and water and maintenance directorate after selling these two blocks after the sale of the two blocks.
The CDA had shifted these departments to the old Naval Headquarter, but this did not help solve the problem of space shortage. So the authority has planned to construct its new complex,†they said.
They said the CDA would initiate work on the new complex by the end of the current year and would complete the project within three years. The authority will construct the complex in front of the Zarai Taraqiyati Bank Limited (ZTBL). According to the pan, the CDA will accommodate all directorates in the new complex.
It has been learnt that the CDA had approved the design for the new complex after a competition in which many national and international firms participated.
