Aequs to Launch MRO Facility by Year-End.

Aequs, the contract manufacturing leader, is set to bolster its aerospace and consumer goods footprint with ambitious plans for growth. The company aims to expand its aerospace manufacturing capabilities, enter the precision consumer electronics market, and establish a Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) facility this year.

The MRO, to be developed in partnership with Canada’s Magellan Aerospace Corporation, will initially focus on turboprop engine servicing. This move aligns with Aequs' strategy to enhance India's role in global aerospace manufacturing.

Expanding Workforce and Capabilities

According to Chairman and CEO Aravind Melligeri, Aequs plans to increase its workforce by 1,000 employees by FY26, adding to its current team of 4,000. "Precision manufacturing is our core strength, and we are also exploring growth opportunities in consumer durables and smart electronics," Melligeri said.

The company operates a Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in Belagavi, Karnataka, offering end-to-end manufacturing capabilities, including forging, machining, surface treatment, and aero assemblies. Around 60-70% of value addition for its products happens within this SEZ.

Strong Aerospace Momentum

Aequs’ aerospace vertical accounted for $100 million of its $120 million revenue in FY24, with clients including Airbus, Boeing, Collins, and Safran. The company has set a five-year goal to achieve $500 million in aerospace revenues, contributing to an overall target of $1 billion by 2030.

Joint ventures like Aerospace Processing India Pvt Ltd (with Magellan Aerospace) and SQuAD Forge (with France’s Aubert & Duval) further underscore Aequs' leadership in aerospace innovation.

Funding and Future Outlook

While the company currently has sufficient funds, Melligeri mentioned the possibility of a rights issue if additional capital is required. He also highlighted the growing global demand for products like smart rings and indicated that Aequs is targeting both domestic and export markets in consumer electronics.

The company recently showcased its capabilities at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025, unveiling cutting-edge solutions across multiple powertrains, including diesel, biodiesel, CNG, LNG, battery electric, and hydrogen.

By advancing its aerospace and consumer goods portfolio, Aequs aims to strengthen its position as a key player in precision manufacturing and sustainable innovation.
