"Adani Green Surpasses 10,000 MW Milestone in Renewable Energy Capacity"
Adani Green Energy Limited (AGEL) has achieved a significant milestone by surpassing 10,000 megawatts (MW) in installed capacity, the company announced on Wednesday. This capacity includes 7,393 MW from solar, 1,401 MW from wind, and 2,140 MW from wind-solar hybrid sources. According to a statement released by the company, this combined capacity will cater to the power needs of over 5.8 million homes and prevent approximately 21 million tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions annually.
Gautam Adani, Chairman of Adani Group, expressed pride in AGEL's accomplishment, stating, "We are proud to be India’s first das hazari in the renewables space." He highlighted the rapid growth of Adani Green Energy, which has transformed from a mere concept into a substantial contributor to India's renewable energy landscape in less than a decade.
Adani outlined the company's ambitious plans for the future, aiming to achieve 45,000 MW by 2030. Notably, AGEL is currently developing what is set to be the world's largest renewable energy plant in Khavda, with a capacity of 30,000 MW. This project, Adani emphasized, will not only set new standards but redefine them on a global scale.
AGEL has already operationalized 2,000 MW of cumulative solar capacity, which accounts for over 6 percent of the planned 30,000 MW. The progress at Khavda is progressing swiftly, leveraging the combined strengths of Adani Infra's project execution capabilities, Adani New Industries Limited's manufacturing expertise, Adani Infrastructure Management Services Ltd's operational proficiency, and a robust supply chain of strategic partners, the company stated.
