Soukya to Invest ₹220 Crore in New Venture in Portugal.

Soukya, a renowned integrative medical center, is set to invest ₹220 crore to establish its first international facility in Portugal. The 150-acre facility will feature 40 villas and suites, according to Dr. Isaac Mathai, Founder Chairman and Medical Director of Soukya International Holistic Health Centre.

The decision to expand to Portugal comes after a five-year evaluation of multiple global locations. “We considered various factors, including cost of living, operating conditions, and staff transfer feasibility, before selecting Portugal,” said Dr. Mathai.

Funding for the venture will include borrowing ₹220 crore, leveraging Portugal's low-interest rates and European Union funding for eco-friendly projects. “We will contribute 25-30% of the investment, with the remainder financed through these favorable opportunities,” Mathai added.

Portugal's growing reputation as a wellness destination, particularly for aging populations from the U.S. and Europe, played a crucial role in the decision. “Portugal is becoming a hub for health and well-being, especially for older demographics seeking holistic care. This aligns perfectly with our vision, and we plan to expand as demand grows,” Mathai said.

The announcement coincides with the rapid growth of the AYUSH sector globally. According to the India Brand Equity Foundation (IBEF), the AYUSH services sector is projected to be valued at $26 billion by 2024, with the overall industry exceeding $50 billion.

Founded in 2002, Soukya integrates ayurveda, homeopathy, yoga, and over 30 complementary therapies, including acupuncture, reflexology, and dietetics. The center has treated over 10,000 patients from more than 100 countries, including notable figures like King Charles III and Queen Camilla.
