"PM Modi to Unveil Subhadra Yojana, Launch Key Railway and Highway Projects in Odisha"
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to launch Odisha's flagship women-focused initiative, the Subhadra Yojana, along with major railway and national highway projects during his visit to the state on Tuesday.
This marks PM Modi's first visit to Odisha since attending Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi's swearing-in ceremony on June 12, and it coincides with his 74th birthday. He is expected to arrive at Biju Patnaik International Airport around 10:50 a.m., according to officials.
The Subhadra Yojana, named after Goddess Subhadra, aims to support eligible women aged 21-60 years by providing ₹50,000 over five years, from 2024-25 to 2028-29. More than 1 crore women are expected to benefit, with ₹10,000 being credited annually in two installments directly to their bank accounts. PM Modi will initiate the fund transfer for over 10 lakh women during the event.
In addition, the Prime Minister will dedicate and lay the foundation for railway projects worth ₹2,800 crore and national highway projects valued at over ₹1,000 crore. He will also release the first installment of assistance to nearly 10 lakh beneficiaries under PMAY-G across 14 states.
The program will include Griha Pravesh ceremonies for 26 lakh beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) across the country, with PM Modi personally handing over house keys to both rural and urban recipients. He will also launch the Awaas+ 2024 app to survey additional households under PMAY-G and introduce the operational guidelines for PMAY-Urban 2.0 before returning to Delhi, officials said.
