ONDC 'Set to Grow 10 Times by 2026'.

The Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) is projected to experience a massive tenfold increase in daily transactions, potentially reaching 50-60 lakh by 2026, according to the platform's former CEO, Thampy Koshy.

Speaking to businessline, Koshy expressed confidence in ONDC's growth trajectory despite recent public criticism regarding its pace. He emphasized that the platform's primary goal is to build a robust community, a process he acknowledges takes time.

Providing context for the ambitious growth target, Koshy highlighted the significant progress already made. "When we started to make ONDC available to the public at large in Bangalore in January 2023, we did 1200 transactions monthly. In March this year we did over 16.5 million transactions," he stated.

Currently, ONDC handles an average of between 5-6 lakh transactions daily. Koshy anticipates adding "one more zero to this number" by next year, indicating the target of 50-60 lakh daily transactions. He also mentioned the network's strategic focus on expanding its reach beyond the initial popular categories of food and mobility.
