Lloyds Engineering Works Establishes Defence-Focused Subsidiary.
Lloyds Engineering Works Ltd (LEWL) has incorporated a wholly owned subsidiary, Lloyds Advance Defence Systems Ltd, marking its entry into the defence manufacturing sector. The Mumbai-based engineering company said the new entity has been set up to focus exclusively on defence equipment manufacturing and to tap into the sector’s growing opportunities.
The dedicated subsidiary will draw on LEWL’s existing manufacturing strengths while operating under compliance frameworks specific to defence production. The move is aimed at enabling sharper focus, specialised processes and adherence to regulatory requirements associated with defence contracts.
To support its defence vertical, LEWL has entered into multiple technology partnerships with international firms. The company has signed an agreement with Poland-based FlyFocus Sp. z o.o. for advanced First Person View (FPV) drone technology, which will complement LEWL’s in-house “Defender” drone programme.
In the marine segment, LEWL has partnered with another Polish firm, Kliver Polska Sp. z o.o., for the design and development of towed reels and underwater platform equipment. The company has also entered into an agreement with Italy’s Virtualabs S.r.l. to develop radar technologies.
Additionally, LEWL has collaborated with Italian shipbuilding major Fincantieri S.p.A. for naval systems, including steering gear and fin stabilisers, further strengthening its defence and marine engineering capabilities.
