"Kerala Government Transfers Land to AAI for Calicut Airport RESA Expansion"

In a significant development, the Kerala government officially transferred 12.48 acres of land, acquired for the expansion of Calicut International Airport, to the Airport Authority of India (AAI) on Thursday.

The handover of documents was carried out in the presence of several officials, including Airport Director S. Suresh and District Collector V.R. Premkumar. Additional District Magistrate M. Meharali, Deputy Collectors M.P. Premlal, J.O. Arun, Anvar Sadath, Lata K., Sajeed S., and District Information Officer K. Mohammed were also in attendance.

This land acquisition involved 76 landholders and was completed in a span of two months, thanks to a special package offered by the government.

The acquired land is slated for the expansion of the runway end safety area (RESA) at both ends of the runway. Specifically, the AAI is extending the RESA from its current 90 meters to an enhanced 240 meters, a significant step in bolstering the safety standards of the airport.
