Karnataka Agriculture Minister Inaugurates Electric Tractor Mela in Bengaluru.
Karnataka Agriculture Minister N. Chaluvarayaswamy inaugurated the Electric Tractor Mela on Friday at the College of Horticulture, University of Horticultural Sciences campus in Bengaluru.
Organised by the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) in partnership with Villgro and Moonrider, and facilitated by the Centre of Excellence for Farmer-Producer Organizations (CoE-FPO), the mela brought together over 200 farmers from 100 FPOs across Karnataka.
At the event, NRDC launched a report titled “Powering Agriculture: Unlocking the Potential of Electric Tractors in India”. The report highlights electric tractors as a transformative solution, offering up to 80% lower operating costs, nearly 50% lower total cost of ownership, and significant health benefits by eliminating heat, noise, and toxic diesel emissions. It also proposes a policy roadmap for the Centre and states to accelerate large-scale adoption of electric tractors.
