India's PM lays foundation stone for nuclear research centre.

Indian prime minister Manmohan Singh laid the foundation stone for a new centre to coordinate research and training activities in civil nuclear power between scientists from India and overseas.

Mr. Singh said the Global Centre for Nuclear Energy Partnership in Jhajjar, in the state of Haryana, would also work to 'strengthen the security of nuclear power plants and nuclear materials'.
