Indian Railways Proposes 500 km of New Lines Near China, Myanmar and Bhutan Borders.

India is set to bolster its northeastern frontier with a major railway expansion, aiming to improve accessibility, speed up logistics, and enhance military readiness. The move comes as a strategic measure to prepare for potential future tensions with neighboring countries, particularly China.

According to sources familiar with the plan, the government has approved the construction of 500 kilometers of new rail lines. The project, which includes bridges and tunnels, will connect remote regions along the borders of China, Bangladesh, Myanmar, and Bhutan.

The ambitious project is expected to cost the government around ₹30,000 crore ($3.4 billion) and has a projected completion timeline of four years. The new infrastructure is seen as a critical step in strengthening India's ability to swiftly deploy personnel and supplies to its borders.
