Emerson completes automation for 800 MW Andhra unit.

Emerson Process Management recently said it has completed the automation for the first 800 MW unit of 1,600 MW supercritical Sri Damodaram Sanjeevaiah thermal power project of Andhra Pradesh Power Development Company (APPDCL).

'Emerson Process Management has completed automating a new 800 MW, supercritical thermal power-generating unit owned by APPDCL, a special purpose entity of the state power generation utility APGENCO,' the automation services provider said in a release here.

Located in Krishnapatnam, the coal-based project entails an investment of $2 billion by APGENCO for providing new, low-emissions generation capacity to support the region's rapid economic growth, the company said.

The first unit at Sri Damodaram Sanjeevaiah project is ready to begin commercial operations while the work on automating the second unit is expected to be completed in the next few weeks, the release said.
