"BSNL Deploys 3,500 4G Towers Across 5 Northern States, Announces CMD Pravin Kumar Purwar"
Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), a state-run telecom operator, has successfully installed 3,500 base transceiver stations (BTS) across five circles in North India to enhance its 4G services. Pravin Kumar Purwar, the Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of BSNL, announced this significant milestone.
The five circles benefiting from this infrastructure upgrade are Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Uttar Pradesh West. BTS serves as a fixed radio transceiver in mobile networks, typically installed on towers.
Purwar, speaking at an industry event, reaffirmed BSNL's commitment to launching commercial 4G services at the earliest opportunity. He hinted that the rollout might occur after activating 20,000 base transceiver stations (BTS).
In addition to the northern states, BSNL has identified Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana as the initial regions slated to receive 4G services, according to officials. The rollout in Tamil Nadu is expected post-April, while installations are already underway for over 4,200 4G sites in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
BSNL officials disclosed that extensive groundwork has been done for tower installations in these states, with the process currently underway.
