World Bank Approves Funding for Two Projects in Punjab and Maharashtra.

The World Bank has approved funding for two projects in India that aim to benefit more than 60 lakh people through innovative digital solutions, the bank announced recently.

The projects, approved by the World Bank Board of Executive Directors on November 25, focus on improving education in Punjab and enhancing incomes for small and marginal farmers in Maharashtra.

The Punjab Outcomes-Acceleration in School Education Operation (POISE) programme, with a funding of USD 286 million, will leverage technology to track learning outcomes and improve the quality of education. The initiative will ensure enrollment of 13 lakh students in primary schools, over 22 lakh students in secondary schools, and support 59 lakh students in early childhood education.

The Maharashtra project will focus on boosting incomes for small and marginal farmers, although specific details on implementation were not disclosed in the statement.
