Work begins on walkway in RAK's Al Muairidh area.

The construction work on a 500 meter long and 6 meter wide walkway has begun in RAK's Al Muairidh area. The scope of work also includes the construction of a concrete barrier and 130 parking spaces.

Ahmad Al Hammadi, Director of the Public Works and Services Department, mentioned that a number of underground pipes will be laid under the wall to drain rain water, prevent damage to the packed layers of dust under the road.

Phase 1 of the project is completed which involved the paving of the walkway. The rest of the project is estimated to be completed at the end of January 2015.

Recently, the department, in collaboration with the emirate's police, has opened the Qarm-Oman road intersection, locally known as Istanbul intersection.
