Wonderchef chalks out Rs. 50-crore expansion plan.
Wonderchef, the cookware and appliance brand promoted by chef Sanjeev Kapoor, has chalked out a Rs. 50-crore plan to expand operations in India and overseas, a top company executive said.
The company markets over 400 products, mostly imported, to Indian homemakers across 5,000 towns and cities.
Ravi Saxena, managing director of Wonderchef, told ET that the company plans to set up a fully-integrated manufacturing plant in the country within a year, entailing an investment of about Rs. 15 crore, while the rest of the money will be spent on expanding its sales and marketing network and promotional activities.
The company also wants to have a significant presence in the Middle East, Africa and Southeast Asia in the next three years, he added.
'We are already among the top three brands in our segment in the country and are now looking for taking our marketing efforts to the next level in a bid to become a global Indian brand,' Saxena said.
For this, the company recently roped in supermodel Ujjwala Raut as its brand ambassador.
According to Saxena, Wonderchef is expecting a turnover of Rs. 60 cr in calendar year 2014 and hopes to touch Rs. 100 crore in 2015.
