Thumbay group plans to set up chain of hospitals.

The UAE- based Thumbay group plans to set up a chain of hospitals in India with about 1,500 beds.

Addressing a press conference to announce the formal inauguration of its first hospital, Thumbay Hospital New Life, at Chaderghat recently, its Medical Director Shyam Sundar said the modalities of expansion, including investments, are being worked out.

The plan is to open super-specialty hospitals in Mangaluru, Bengaluru, Mysore and Mumbai. In addition, a second facility in Hyderabad at Jubilee Hills-Hitech city zone will also be opened.

The 200-bed Thumbay Hospital New Life here has been set up with an investment of over ₹30 crore by taking over the already existing New Life Hospital. Mohammad Mahmood Ali, Deputy Chief Minister of Telangana, will formally inaugurate the hospital, on Wednesday.

The group, which is one of the largest private healthcare providers in the Middle East, plans to train its health university students in India in its hospital here. “We want to make our hospital here a hub for medical tourism and training for medical students,” said Shyam Sundar.
