Texmaco and United Group ink joint venture deal

Kolkata: Australian firm United Group and KK Birla Group Company Texmaco have formed a 50:50 joint venture to manufacture hi-tech wagon and locomotive bogie frames for Indian Railways, private sector and export market. It will set up a modern manufacturing facility at West Bengal.

United Group is one of Asia Pacific’s leading end to end rail technology solution providers.

The JV is also looking for projects under the Indian Railways new plan outlay of Rs.2,30,000 crore in the 11th-five year plan. It will also look at opportunities on railways proposed dedicated freight corridors linking Delhi-Mumbai and Delhi-Kolkata.

Texmaco company has already got highest order of 3455 wagons by the Railways for 2008-09. It has also received orders from Chittaranjan Locomotive Works (CLW) to manufacture Loco Components.
