Telangana CM Instructs HAML MD to Prepare DPRs for Two Metro Rail Corridors.

Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao has directed officials to prepare Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) for extending Metro Rail connectivity to Medchal and Shameerpet on the outskirts of the city. The announcement was made as part of a New Year initiative to enhance public transport in North Hyderabad.

The proposed Metro corridors are the 23-kilometer Paradise-Medchal line and the 22-kilometer JBS-Shameerpet line. Hyderabad Airport Metro Limited (HAML) Managing Director NVS Reddy confirmed that the Chief Minister has given the green light for these projects, which aim to improve connectivity and infrastructure for commuters in the region.

Reddy added that the CM has instructed the preparation of the DPRs, which will be submitted to the Central government for approval as part of Metro Rail Phase-2 Part 'B'. In a meeting with Municipal Administration Principal Secretary M. Dana Kishore and HAML officials, the CM discussed the preparation process for these two vital corridors.

The Paradise-Medchal corridor will cover several key locations, including Tadband, Bowenpally, Suchitra Circle, Kompally, and Gundlapochampally. The JBS-Shameerpet corridor will serve areas like Vikrampuri, Kharkhana, Alwal, Bollaram, Hakimpet, and Tumkunta, offering enhanced accessibility to the region.

The Chief Minister has set a deadline of three months for completing the DPRs and obtaining state government approval. Additionally, the CM has mandated that both Phase-2 'A' and 'B' of the Metro Rail project be structured as joint venture initiatives between the Central and state governments.

HAML is now moving forward with the preparation of the DPRs and associated documentation, as per the Chief Minister's instructions.
