Tata Power Boosts Green Job Skills with TN Solar Centres.

In a significant move to bolster India's green energy workforce and accelerate the transition to sustainable power, Tata Power, through its skill development arm, the Tata Power Skill Development Institute (TPSDI), has announced a strategic partnership with the Directorate of Employment and Training (DET), Government of Tamil Nadu. This collaboration will lead to the establishment of Solar Skill Centres of Excellence (SCOEs) across the state.

The partnership will see the creation of SCOEs at four government Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) located in Pettai, Thoothukudi, Sattur, and Virudhunagar. These state-of-the-art centers are designed to offer comprehensive training in solar energy and allied fields, including emerging technologies like wind power and green hydrogen. The overarching goal of this initiative is to equip the youth of Tamil Nadu with the specialized skills necessary for employment within the rapidly expanding renewable energy sector, thereby contributing to the sustainability of the nation's power landscape.

Under the terms of the agreement, TPSDI will take the lead in developing the training curriculum, delivering the instructional programs, and conducting assessments to ensure high-quality skill development. The DET, for its part, will provide crucial infrastructure support and leverage its extensive ITI network for outreach and candidate mobilization. Both organizations have indicated that additional centers may be established in the future, based on the DET's identification of new strategic locations to further expand the reach of these vital skill development programs. This collaboration marks a proactive step towards building a skilled workforce ready to meet the demands of a sustainable energy future.
