State to Get Three New Cancer Hospitals.

The state government has decided to set up three new cancer hospitals in Karwar, Belagavi and Raichur in partnership with the Tata Memorial Hospital, said Medical Education Minister Sharan Prakash Patil.

He was speaking after inaugurating students hostel, gynaecology outpatient department and a new CT scan slice machine at the Kidwai Memorial Institute of Oncology recently.

Patil said, 'There was a need for an additional machine (CT Scan) due to the ever increasing patient flow....'

With this new machine, the waiting period of patients to get diagnosed through the scan has come down from 15 days to four days.

'Mandya and Gulbarga will also get cancer care hospitals similar to the Kidwai Institute,' Patil informed.
