Rs. 850 Crore for 4-lane Road Connecting Donakonda to NH 5.
As part of developing Donakonda in Prakasam district as an industrial hub, the state government had sanctioned Rs. 850 crore for four-lane road connectivity from Donakonda to national highway 5.
Disclosing this to mediapersons recently, transport minister Sidda Raghava Rao said from Donakonda will be connected to Darsi, Podili, Chimakurthi and Ongle by a 4-lane road and the funding for the same is to be provided by Asian Development Bank.
Further, Rs. 10 crore has been allocated for Chimakurthy Bypass road construction which is expected to be completed in four months’ time as necessary directions have been given in this regard to R&B engineers, he added.
The minister said proposals for expansion of a double lane road connecting Ongole, Santhanuthalapadu, Podili and Darsi to 4-lane one with a 120 feet width has been submitted to the government.
'However, small time businessmen in Santhanuthalapadu had raised objections as the 120 feet road will mean losing their shops in permanent buildings on road side. They instead wanted a bypass road be constructed on government land available. The issue will be discussed with R&C engineer-in-chief and other officials concerned to resolve it,' he explained.
On the occasion, he said measures are on for having a stop for express buses at Santhanuthalapadu mandal headquarters.
