Rs 500bn to be spent on 129 road project

Islamabad: Over Rs 500 billion will be spent on 129 mega road projects including motorways, expressways and highways under the National Trade Corridor Programme (NTCP), sources in the National Highway Authority said on Sunday. They said that work on 63 projects costing over Rs 150 billion was in progress, while another 16 projects of over Rs 60 billion were in the final phase of completion.
Work on Faisalabad-Khanewal section of motorway will start soon, they said, adding that the project would be completed within four years at a cost of about Rs 17 billion. They said there would be 25 minor bridges, two major bridges, 42 flyovers, five service areas and seven interchanges on the section.
