Rs. 150-crore for Road-Cum-Rail Bridges.
The state government has sanctioned Rs. 150 crores for the construction of road-cum-railway bridges and railway under bridges, transport minister Sidda Raghava Rao has said.
Addressing newsmen recently, he said proposals have been submitted to Union transport minister Nitin Gadkari for the development of national highways in the state and efforts will be made to construct internal roads and outer ring road for Amaravati, the new capital.
He said steps have been taken for the development of Kakinada-Chennai coastal corridor and also for highway connecting Anantapur-Donakonda-Addanki.
Raghava Rao said they are also contemplating to have vehicle numbers issued in the showrooms itself. Special officers will be appointed to ensure road safety.
Stating that the government is keen on strengthening APSRTC, the minister said that, in last one year, around 1,100 new buses were procured. Development of Ramayapatnam port and necessary proposals are being made to the ministry concerned in Delhi, he said and added that proposals for Mineral University and Veterinary University in Ongole have also been mooted.
