PM Modi to inaugurate underground Metro in Pune on September 26: Fadnavis

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced recently that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate Pune's new underground Metro and lay the foundation stone for an elevated route on September 26. Fadnavis, along with Union Minister Nitin Gadkari and other leaders, was in Pune to launch several development projects for the district.

During the event, Fadnavis expressed gratitude to Gadkari for the progress on the four-lane Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj Palkhi Marg and Sant Tukaram Maharaj Palkhi Marg, which connect Pandharpur to Pune. He highlighted that the final phase of the route will commence soon.

Fadnavis confirmed that PM Modi will inaugurate the underground Metro corridor from Civil Court to Swargate, and lay the foundation stones for the extension from Swargate to Katraj and an elevated corridor from Pimpri Chinchwad to Nigdi.

"We are expanding the Pune Metro network. During the Ganpati festival, 3.5 lakh people used the Metro for immersions. On September 26, PM Modi will inaugurate the new route and perform the 'bhumipujan' for another extension. Pune is on track to become one of the best urban centres in the near future," he said.

Fadnavis also mentioned a proposal from Union Minister Murlidhar Mohol to name Pune's airport after Sant Tukaram Maharaj, which will be submitted to the Centre for approval.
