Pak: CDGL has Rs one billion for development projects
Lahore: Nazim City District Government Lahore (CDGL) Mian Aamer Mahmood has said the CDGL has Rs one billion to fund a string of development projects to be executed through the Citizen Community Boards. He expressed these views while addressing the foundation stone laying ceremony of community centre (Barat Ghar) at Model Town.
President Model Town Co-operative Society Colonel (Retd) Tahir Kardar, Vice President Tahir Ali Khan, member of the Managing Committee and a large number of members of Model Town Cooperative Society participated in the ceremony. Mahmood said the formation of cooperative societies was the most practical arrangement for development and social welfare of a particular locality.
Services of Model Town Cooperative Society for carrying out unprecedented development works with its own resources were not only commendable but worth emulating as well, he added. Tahir Kardar said that the centre was being built on a 44-kanal piece of land situated near the Model Town Post Office. 'The project will be completed at a cost of Rs 210 million in one and half year's time,' he added.
He said for establishing a super-store of international standard, Model Town Society has leased out a 65 kanal of land to Mecro for a period of 33 years. 'The company will pay a monthly rent of Rs 400,000 to the Society and every year there will be an increase of four percent in this amount. The Model Town Society will earn a total of Rs 1.62 billions from this project.,' he added.
