Oppo Mobiles starts trial production in India.

Chinese mobile electronic devices manufacturer Oppo Mobiles started trial assembling of its one model in the facility of electronics assembly manufacturer Foxconn in SriCity, Andhra Pradesh. It would focus on making particular products and would decide future plans later, said an official from Oppo Mobiles India Pvt Ltd.

Speaking to the reporters in the sidelines of launch of the 4G Neo7 smartphopne in Tamil Nadu, Kai Fent, vice general manager of Oppo Mobiles India Pvt Ltd said that company has started assembling mobile phones at Foxconn facility in SriCity, Andhra Pradesh, on a trial basis from August, this year. Initially it has started with a few hundreds of pieces, he said. Currently, the facility is producing Oppo Joy Plus, a smart phone which is the lowest in price points for the company in India.

'We aim to capture a decent market share and expect more than 200 per cent sales growth and 1.5 million unit sales by the end of March 2016 in India. We aim to be among the top three brands in Tamil Nadu by the end of 2016,' he added. The company has sold around 400,000 units this year, he added.

Plans are to focus on launch of more 4G phones in India and to launch new products that range between Rs. 8,000 to Rs. 20,000 by end of this year. It would initially market the products through brick and mortar retail outlets and would only sell through e-commerce in a later stage, said Feng.
