Jindal Power completes expansion in Tanmar, Chhattisgarh.

Jindal Steel and Power Ltd. said recently that it has completed the 2,400 MW expansion project in Tamnar, Chhattisgarh.

With this, the Jindal Steel and Power Ltd. at group level has an installed capacity of 3, 400 MW. The installed capacity in Raigarh belt of Chhattisgarh has reached 4,294 MW that is capable of producing 37.6 billon units annually. Of this, Jindal Power Ltd’s production is around 29 billion units from its plants.

'The installed generation capacity of Jindal Power at 3,400 MW has the potential to cater to the peak power demand of city of Mumbai. The installed capacity can cater to over three crore Indians,' said the company in a statement.

“With the progressive measures being introduced by the Government for ensuring affordable availability of coal to power producers, we remain optimistic about achieving optimal levels of power generation in the near future,” Ravi Uppal, Managing Director and Group CEO, Jindal Steel and Power Ltd. added.

The first and second units of the 4x600 MW Tanmar plant have already achieved full load operation. The third unit was synchronized in fiscal 2013-14 and the fourth unit achieved full load operation within 23 months from the commencement of boiler erection.
