JCB India to invest Rs 220-mn in Pune
Pune: JCB India, a fully owned subsidiary of UK’s J C Bamford Excavators Ltd, is investing Rs 22 crore to set up a central parts warehouse as well as training centre at Talegaon in Pune.
Talking to presspersons, Mr Vipin Sondhi, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, JCB India, said the projects are expected to be completed by August this year. JCB makes construction equipment.
Commenting on the performance of the company, Mr Sondhi said that in 2007, it sold 17,192 machines against 10,860 in 2006. The value of the machines was Rs 3,100 crore in 2007 compared with Rs 2,000 crore in 2006.
He noted that in 2007, India was the single largest market for JCB machines, ahead of the UK and Ireland. In volume terms, it had increased from 19 per cent (2006) to 24 per cent (2007).
