India Has 360 Proposals for Ropeway and Cable Car Projects, Says Union Minister Nitin Gadkari.

Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari announced recently that India has put forth 360 proposals for ropeway and cable car projects, amounting to approximately $7.93 billion. Speaking at the event "Financing Cutting-Edge Products from Germany, Austria, and Switzerland" in the national capital, Gadkari emphasized the importance of these projects for the country's infrastructure development.

In addition to the ropeway initiatives, Gadkari highlighted that India is also working on over 300 tunnel projects and invited companies from Germany, Switzerland, and Austria to explore joint ventures in these endeavors. "My suggestion is that if you can make a joint venture. Indians’ per capita income is relatively low, which affects their paying capacity. Thus, we need to ensure these projects are developed at reasonable costs to maintain economic viability," he stated.

Gadkari expressed his openness to suggestions for overcoming challenges related to infrastructure projects. "I welcome ideas and collaboration. India has huge potential; the sky is the limit," he remarked, emphasizing the need for economic viability in all projects.

He underscored the use of various technologies in road construction while advocating for a balance between economic growth and environmental sustainability. Gadkari also pointed out the need to standardize policies to enhance the ropeway industry and promote the manufacturing of components under the "Make in India" initiative.

His remarks concluded with a call for the industry to focus on making ropeways economically viable by reducing project costs while ensuring safety and developing indigenous, cost-efficient solutions.
